Rocky Asbury

Athlete to artist

“In 2015 I hung up my cleats and put away my golf clubs only to pick up a paintbrush. I knew without any training the deck was stacked against me but I still felt the challenge and believed I could do it. Some would say being self-taught I would be at a disadvantage and that may be so, but I also feel as if I have an advantage because I follow no rules or instructions and everything is usually 100% spontaneous. I use everything from acrylics to oil sticks/paint and spray paint. I also use brushes, scrappers, and pallet knives.”

Constance Bachmann

CONTEMPORARY MIXED MEDIA

“My newest figurative work hints at historical portraiture, echoing my ongoing fascination for the elaborate costumes of those eras. I paint fanciful clothing that may suggest the French Renaissance period, Elizabethan styles, or Spanish Vaquero times. In this spontaneous and playful way, I aim to soften my subject’s starched collars and have them relax their stuffy facades, painting society’s past, prideful veneers into a fresher, and much more benevolent context.”

Claire Conrad

MIXED MEDIA COLLAGe

“I have always had a great love and interest in color and design. I uncovered my artistic talent by assembling a collection of beautiful antique books many over 120 years old. I soon discovered that my collages unveiled a visual cacophony of color, texture, and pattern. They demonstrate just how beautiful books once were and how many books were works of art unto themselves. Each piece is carefully covered in multiple layers of resin creating a glassy-like finish.”

Diana Creasy-Funk

Figurative Painter

“Ask any artist and they will tell you that they paint because they have to… It’s an unexplainable need. I’m no different. I just paint… I have to. What occurs on the canvas can and does change and evolve in a constant flow, but in the end it’s only just about the process, the ideas, application, physical movement, problem solving, letting go and accepting.”

“Little joy, a little sorrow and always the relentless flow of positive and negative energy. Working from molded under-painting that is felt rather than thought, she makes texture the architecture of her responsive oeuvre, which compels the hand and the eye, revealing that touching is a multi-sensory experience, engaging flesh and spirit.”

Michael Hermesh

“My art is shaped by how I view the world. I do not believe that there is a state of grace in life. Life is life – it is dynamic, and it is always a struggle. Integrity, awareness, and dignity remain constants. These are elements in life that are unchanging and real that can be spent or thrown away. For me, this is the mystic and beauty of life and the underlying subject matter of all my work.”

Coming Soon…

While I have always avoided describing my work as abstract, I’ve come to see the nature of my paintings as driven by the spirit of a figure-ground relationship. Of growing interest to me is a sense of the primal manner in which we relate to the earth’s horizon and how we exist in the context of landscape. Rather than pursuing what is illusory, my approach is experimental. My interest lies in the tension between wanting to avoid abstraction while calling upon elements of landscape that address the primal subject.

Keith Mikell

MULTI-MEDIA ARTIST

“The voice of artist should reach out to not only entertain and beautify, but to touch people emotionally whether it be sentimentality or call to action. Because art is organic, we should make it fresh and relevant for people of all cultures to understand, especially in this renewed era of blatant racism, cultural divisions, terrorism, and beguiling social ignorance.”
